One seam, four moves.
Every robotic weld is the same short cycle repeated without variation — that repeatability is the whole point of automating it. Scroll to run the cycle: the elevation below is drawn from the cell's real geometry, and the reach and standoff callouts are solved live as the arm moves.
What each move has to get right.
A weld cell is judged on the boring parts: whether it approaches cleanly, holds the numbers through the pass, and gets out without touching the part.
Reach
The arm leaves its home pose and swings the torch over the fixture. Nothing is energised yet — this is the move that has to clear the jig, the clamps and the operator's guarding.
Position
The torch descends onto the seam start at a set work angle and standoff. Get this wrong and the bead wanders; the approach is vertical so the nozzle never drags across the plate.
Weld
The arc strikes and the torch travels the joint at constant height and speed. Travel speed, standoff and work angle are the three numbers that decide whether the weld passes inspection.
Retract
The arc extinguishes and the torch lifts straight off the end of the run before the arm returns home, so the nozzle clears the workpiece instead of ploughing into it.
